Our Potluck Shabbat dinner and Tu B’shvat Seder was a great success in January, and we are looking forward to getting together again on the Third Friday in February. This month, we will be having our dinner on the night after Purim Katan, so the twin themes for the dinner will be Shushan (Persia) and Joy.
The rabbis tell us that when the month of Adar comes in, Joy increases. This is why we add an extra month of Adar when we have a leap year — so that we can increase our joy instead of our sadness. However, Purim needs to be in the second Adar so that it will be exactly 1 month from Purim until Pesach. So, what about the first Adar? It doesn’t have to be sad. It gets Purim Katan!
Plan to bring a meat or vegetarian dish (no dairy) for this meal.
