Meditative Shabbat Service
In Hebrew, the word for "intention" is "kavvana". Sometimes in a regular prayer service, the kavvana can get lost in the rush to say all the appointed prayers at the appointed times and finish everything so we can all go home. This month, we're going to have an opportunity to slow down, get deep into the meaning of each prayer, and focus our kavvana with guidance from traditional Jewish mystical sources. The rabbis tell us that when the month of Adar comes in, Joy increases. This month is Adar Bet, the second Adar in this "pregnant year" (leap year). The theme of the evening will be "my favorite foods", so bring one of your favorite dishes to share. Plan to bring a meat or vegetarian dish (no dairy) for this meal. Passover Cleaning Party
Can you spare an hour or two on Sunday April 14? Join us at 10am so we can make sure that all the dishes are ready for passover, all the carpets are clean, and there are no hidden crumbs in places no one ever thinks crumbs will fall. Our Shabbat Potluck Dinner (Shabbatluck) is a wonderful way to enjoy a little Yiddishkeit and social time, get to know more members of our community, and eat lots of tasty food.
